Frequently Asked Questions

A backflow(also known as a backflow preventer valve or backflow device) is a mechanical device installed in a plumbing system that acts as a one-way gate to ensure water only flows in the intended direction. Its primary job is to prevent contaminated water from “backing up” and mixing with the clean, potable water supply due to sudden changes in pipe pressure.

Emergency Service is located throughout the Sacramento region and testing can be performed most places throughout Northern California.

The best way to prevent metal theft is by installing back flows with materials that are of little interest to thieves.  A cage should also be installed with a good lock to deter vandalism.

Backflows that are installed on old rusty plumbing systems should have a filter to protect from debris blockage.
